Description

A single tablet treatment for threadworms

Threadworms are small, white worms that live in the gut and can be seen in stool. Although harmless, they cause significant discomfort due to itching and irritation around the anus, especially at night.

Ovex contains mebendazole, which prevents threadworms from absorbing the sugars they need to survive. This one-dose treatment will kill the threadworms. depletes the worms' energy source, ultimately killing them.

A single dose of Ovex will kill the threadworms, but it may not eliminate their eggs, leading to possible re-infection and spread to others. It is strongly recommended that all family members (except pregnant and breastfeeding women and children under two) be treated simultaneously and that precautions are taken to prevent re-infection.

Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to any of the ingredients
  • Not suitable for pregnant women and children under 2 years old
  • Seek advice your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine if you are breastfeeding

The treatment is a single tablet per person.

Adults and children over 2 years: Take one tablet only.

The tablets are orange flavoured and may be chewed or swallowed whole however it can be crushed if giving to  a young child.

It is highly recommended that a second dose is taken after two weeks, if re-infection is suspected.

Mebendazole 100mg

Inactive ingredients

Microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycollate, talc, maize starch, sodium saccharin, magnesium stearate, hydrogenated cottonseed oil, orange flavour, colloidal anhydrous silica, sodium lauryl sulfate, and Orange Yellow S (E110).

Side Effects

Common side effects of mebendazole include:

  • Abdominal cramps
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
