About the Flu
Influenza (flu) is a viral infection that mainly affects the respiratory system. For most healthy people, flu is unpleasant but usually improves within around a week. However, it can sometimes cause more serious illness and complications.

Why Have a Flu Vaccine?
The flu vaccine is designed to protect against the influenza viruses expected to be most common during the flu season.
It is still possible to catch flu after vaccination, but vaccination can reduce your risk of becoming seriously unwell and may make the illness milder if you do catch it.
The vaccine usually takes around 10 to 14 days to develop protection.
Flu viruses change over time and protection from vaccination gradually reduces, which is why a flu vaccination is recommended each year.

Our private flu vaccination service is available for adults aged 18 years and over, subject to a suitability assessment by the pharmacist.
The vaccine is given as a single 0.5 ml injection into the upper arm.
Before vaccination, you will be asked a few health questions to make sure the vaccine is suitable for you.
If you are feeling very unwell on the day of your appointment, you may need to reschedule. A mild illness, such as a minor cold, will not usually prevent you from having the vaccine. Please contact us if you are unsure whether you should attend.
Who Should Consider a Flu Vaccine?
A private flu vaccination may be suitable if you would like additional protection against seasonal influenza but are not receiving the vaccination through the NHS.
