Description

Rigevidon is a contraceptive pill that contains synthetic hormones, ethinylestradiol (30mcg) and levonorgestrel (150mcg), which mimic naturally occurring estrogen and progesterone. These hormones prevent ovulation, thereby preventing fertilization and pregnancy.

Additionally, Rigevidon thickens cervical mucus, making it more difficult for sperm to reach an egg, and thins the uterine lining, reducing the likelihood of a fertilized egg implanting.

Directions

Rigevidon is available in packs of 21 pills. Take one pill at the same time each day for 21 days until the pack is finished.

After completing a pack, take a seven-day break. For example, if you finish a pack on a Sunday, start the next pack on the following Monday, seven days later.

You will typically experience a withdrawal bleed a few days into the pill-free week.

Side Effects

Common side effects include nausea or stomach ache, mood changes, breast tenderness, and unusual vaginal bleeding between periods.

These side effects usually disappear within a few weeks as your body adjusts to Rigevidon. If they persist for more than three months, or if you experience vaginal bleeding after sex or a significant change in your bleeding pattern that doesn’t settle within six weeks, please contact us or speak to your GP for advice.

There are also some rare but serious side effects, such as blood clots, heart attack, and stroke. To help reduce these risks, ensure your blood pressure is normal and maintain a healthy weight. Check your blood pressure annually and keep it below 140/90.
