Description

Fusidic acid works by inhibiting the growth and multiplication of bacteria that cause infections. It prevents these bacteria from producing the proteins they need to replicate, which stops the infection from spreading. This causes the bacteria to die, allowing the immune system to eliminate the remaining bacteria.

Directions

To use Fucidin cream correctly, follow the instructions provided in the Patient Information Leaflet included with your treatment. Here’s a summary of how to apply Fucidin cream:

  • Wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap before applying Fucidin cream.
  • Apply a thin layer of the cream to the infected area(s).\
  • Be cautious to avoid contact with your eyes if applying to your face. If the cream accidentally gets into your eye, rinse it out immediately with cold water and use eyewash if available.
  • Remember to wash your hands thoroughly after each application.
  • Follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions regarding the frequency of application, typically three or four times per day. The frequency may be less if the affected area is covered with a dressing.

With prolonged use, there is an increased risk of developing resistance to Fucidin. If you do not see improvement within a few days, consult your GP.

Always use Fucidin cream exactly as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist. Complete the prescribed treatment course to prevent recurrence of the infection, which could become resistant to Fucidin.
