Description

Fexofenadine is a non-sedating antihistamine which acts on the H1 receptor, preventing histamine having an effect, which reduces the symptoms of an allergic reaction. 

Warnings

  • have or ever had heart disease, since this kind of medicine may lead to a fast or irregular heart beat

Directions

  • Read the instructions for use especially if you are using it for the first time.
  • This medicine is taken once daily.
  • Always take your fexofenadine tablets with a drink of water. Swallow them whole – do not chew them.

Side Effects

Like all medicines, fexofenadine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.

Common side effects (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):

  • feeling sick (nausea)
  • feeling sleepy
  • headaches
  • dry mouth
  • feeling dizzy

Its best not to as it can make you feel sleepy.

Drinking grapefruit, orange, or apple juice may make it more likely for you to experience side effects when taking fexofenadine.

 

Can I drive or ride a bike whilst on Fexofenadine?

Fexofenadine is classed as a non-drowsy antihistamine, but there is still a chance it may make you feel sleepy. When taking Fexofenadine for the first time, see how it makes you feel before you drive, cycle, or operate heavy machinery or tools.

It is an offence to drive your car if your driving ability is affected.
