FAQs

What is Corsodyl Dental Gel used for?

  • Treats and prevents gum problems: Specifically gingivitis (gum inflammation) by reducing bacteria.
  • Reduces bleeding gums: Often a symptom of gingivitis or more advanced gum disease.
  • Aids in healing mouth ulcers: By reducing bacteria and preventing infection.
  • Maintains oral hygiene after dental procedures: Helps prevent infection after surgery or extractions.
  • Controls plaque build-up: Contributes to gum disease.
  • Important note: Corsodyl is a treatment, not a replacement for brushing and flossing. Use as directed and for short periods. See a dentist for persistent gum problems.

How often should I use Corsodyl Dental Gel?

The general guideline is to use Corsodyl Dental Gel twice a day.

  • Timing is important: It's usually best to apply the gel after brushing your teeth. This removes food particles and plaque, allowing the gel to contact gum tissue directly.
  • Individual needs may vary: Your dentist or pharmacist may recommend a different frequency depending on the severity of your gum issues, your overall oral health, or other contributing factors.
  • Adhere to instructions: Carefully follow the recommendations you receive. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage or duration of use.
  • More is not always better: Using Corsodyl more often than advised won't necessarily improve results and could even increase the risk of unwanted side effects.
  • When in doubt, ask: If you're unsure about how often to use Corsodyl Dental Gel, always consult a healthcare professional for personalised guidance and clarification

How do I use Corsodyl Dental Gel?

For best results with Corsodyl Dental Gel, start by brushing your teeth thoroughly. This removes plaque and food, helping the gel reach affected gums. Dispense a pea-sized amount onto a clean fingertip or cotton bud. Gently apply it to inflamed, bleeding, or ulcerated gum areas, massaging it in.

Don't swallow the gel; it's for topical use only. Avoid rinsing immediately after applying to maximize contact time. Follow your dentist or pharmacist's instructions. Small amounts swallowed are usually okay, but for large amounts, contact a healthcare professional.

Is Corsodyl Dental Gel suitable for everyone?

Corsodyl Dental Gel is not recommended for children under 12 years of age. Consult your dentist or pharmacist if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any underlying medical conditions.

What are the side effects of Corsodyl Dental Gel?

Some people may experience temporary tooth staining, altered taste, or irritation of the mouth. See the "Product Side Effects" section for more information.

Can I use Corsodyl Dental Gel with other mouthwash or toothpaste?

It is generally recommended to avoid using other mouthwashes immediately after using Corsodyl Dental Gel. Consult your dentist or pharmacist for advice.
