Chickenpox is a highly contagious viral infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus (VZV). It primarily affects children but can occur at any age. The virus spreads easily through direct contact with an infected person’s rash. It is characterised by an itchy rash, fever, and fatigue. It usually resolves on its own, but vaccination can prevent the illness or reduce its severity.
