How Tadalafil Works

Like Viagra, tadalafil is known as a PDE-5 (phosphodiesterase type 5) inhibitor. It works by relaxing the blood vessels that flow into the penis. When more blood flows, a satisfactory erection is achieved. Men need to be sexually aroused to get an adequate erection. Tadalafil is available as daily 2.5 or 5mg tablets for sexually active men. It also comes in 10mg or 20mg pills taken when needed.

  • Take one tablet 30 minutes before sex.
  • It can take effect within one hour; the effect increases within a few hours.
  • You can take the medicine with or without food. However, it is advisable to limit alcohol intake for more effectiveness.

The lower doses 2.5mg and 5mg are taken daily at the same time each day.
