Description
Marvelon is a combined contraceptive pill, containing two synthetic female hormones: estrogen (30 mcg ethinylestradiol) and progesterone (150 mcg desogestrel).
When taken correctly, Marvelon is an effective birth control method. It prevents pregnancy by stopping ovulation, making it harder for sperm to reach an egg, and reducing the likelihood of a fertilized egg implanting in the womb.

Directions
When starting the pack, take the pill labeled for the current day of the week. Continue taking one pill at the same time each day for 21 days until you finish the pack. Setting an alarm on your phone can help remind you to take it.
After completing the 21-pill strip, take a seven-day break. You’ll likely experience some withdrawal bleeding, usually 2-3 days after stopping. After the seven-day break, start the next strip of 21 pills, regardless of when your withdrawal bleed begins or ends.
Take care: If you miss pills or have diarrhea or vomiting, you risk pregnancy. If you miss a pill, take it as soon as possible. Depending on the situation, you may need to use additional forms of birth control.
Ingredients
Active Ingredient:
Each tablet contains 150 micrograms levonorgestrel and 30 micrograms ethinylestradiol.
Inactive Ingredients:
dl-alpha-tocopherol, Potato starch, Povidone, Stearic acid. Aerosil, Lactose
Side Effects
Some common side effects include:
- Nausea or stomach ache
- Mood changes
- Breast tenderness
- Unusual vaginal bleeding between periods
On very rare occasions, the combined pill can cause serious side effects. These include blood clots, heart attack and stroke. You should only take Marvelon if your blood pressure is within normal range – under 140/90 – and stays that way while you’re taking the pill. Make sure to check it annually. You should also aim to have a normal weight with a body mass index (BMI) under 35).
